Here's information on the basic requirements for entering Japan, as well as comprehensive information on visas - what they are, who needs them, and when, where and how to apply for them. Please take note: This information is meant to serve as a guide only. Requirements for entry into Japan differ from country to country, are subject to change, and each application is treated as an individual case. Always make inquiries before travelling to Japan. All visitors coming from overseas will require visa for Japan. Tourist visas are valid for six months form the date of issue and the cost may be Pounds Sterling 19/- USD 50/- CN$ 47/- A$45/- NZ$55/- approximately. You may be asked to specify whether you need a single-entry or a multiple-entry visa and the same rates apply to both, it is advisable to take a multiple-entry, in case you make a side trip to Nepal and other neighbouring country. For other visas to foreigners of Japann Origin, business travellers and students can get five year visas. The best place to get a visa in you country of residence is from the embassies and high commissions of Japan in your country. One should posses a valid national passport (except in the case of Nepalese nationals), who may carry suitable means of identification.
